Are you interested in ponds and want to know more about what lies beneath the surface? Do you want to know how to distinguish frogs from toads or water skaters from water boatman?
Over the upcoming year, the Garden is undertaking a comprehensive biodiversity audit to catalogue all species present within its walls.
This workshop offers an opportunity to accompany the Garden's Consultant Ecologist, Connor Butler for a practical session catching and identifying pondlife at Chelsea Physic Garden.
We’ll explore:
- How to capture pondlife with nets
- The importance of pond habitats for wildlife
- How to identify the different amphibian species
- How to identify the different types of invertebrates found in ponds
- How to use a taxonomic key
Ticket Information:
Tickets are £65 per person
Please note that there are no discounts for Friends and Members of the Garden
Accessibility:
- This event will take palace in our ‘Gallery’ space, which is an historic building with existing accessibility challenges. When you arrive:
- Please have your ticket ready - printed or on your device - before you arrive.
- Entrance will be via 66 Royal Hospital Road.

Please note:
Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and must remain under close supervision as there is deep water and numerous poisonous plants.
Registered support dogs are welcome in the Garden, no other pets are allowed.
Unfortunately we cannot look after your luggage and we don't have any cloakroom facilities at the Garden.
There are a couple of council bike racks on Royal Hospital Road, unfortunately we do not have racks in the Garden due to lack of space and we can't look after your bicycle for you.
Concessionary rates are available, please contact us if you wish to discuss concessionary tickets.
